A Feldenkrais®
Awareness Through Movement® Class
with Al
Wadleigh, GCFP
Much of our time is spent
looking at a computer screen, driving a car or watching TV. All of these
activities require minimal movement and differentiation between our
eyes, head, neck and shoulders. This repeated pattern of limited movement
can lead to stiffness, pain, and tension. In this class, we will learn
how the eyes can hold the key to a much more relaxed way of moving.
Discover ease of movement in your neck and shoulders, and relax your
jaw and face to achieve a greater sense of comfort in your everyday
life.

Awareness
Through Movement is a series of verbally guided, gentle, slow and organized
movements typically done on the floor on a mat in a group setting. These
lessons guide your awareness toward your own movement patterns. You begin
to generate more choices in thought, emotion and action, and problems and
discomfort are resolved. |
“I
was skeptical at first about whether this would work for me. After the first
class I was a believer! Not only was I relaxing my jaw, but I also found
tension being released in other parts of my body. That is the wonderful
thing about the Feldenkrais Method. You learn about how the muscles
in your body work together. As a result, you can reduce or eliminate pain
you are experiencing before that pain becomes a serious problem. I highly
recommend these classes!” ––P.L.,

I
have benefitted greatly from Al’s Feldenkrais instruction.
I have attended weekly classes at the Senior Center for two years. As I
look back, the changes in my well being over that time are impressive. Before
these classes, I had recurring joint pain in various areas and made regular
visits to the chiropractor. Through Feldenkrais, I am now pain-free
and have not gone to a chiropractor in many months. The difference is also
amazing in terms of the ease and flexibility of movement. —
