What is The Feldenkrais
Method®?
The Feldenkrais Method uses a series of gentle, organized movements
that awaken awareness and enhance the way you move as a whole person. Feldenkrais®
lessons resolve conflicts between muscle groups at the neurological level, so
changes are deeply sensed. As a result, the skeletal system becomes freed to
support you in gravity, allowing the muscles to efficiently move the skeleton.
Restrictive or painful habituated patterns are replaced with efficient, comfortable
ways of moving. Because the Feldenkrais philosophy does not separate
the mind and body, more choices for thought and emotion are generated by communicating
directly with your nervous system.
What Makes the Feldenkrais Method Unique?
When I work with people, privately or in classes, comfort is of the utmost importance.
Slow, gentle movements allow me to communicate directly with the nervous system.
Never forcing or pushing, I create a safe context in which the nervous system
can learn and change. When clients come for a lesson, they wear loose, comfortable
clothing. Private lessons are done on a low table and class lessons are typically
done on the floor.
What is the Feldenkrais Method effective in treating?

How is the Feldenkrais
Method Taught?
Private Lessons: Functional Integration®
Functional Integration lessons are tailored to the client’s unique
needs and organization. Through touch and movement, I communicate a clear message
of a more functional organization to the client’s nervous system. Through these
lessons, overall functioning and sense of well-being improve and problems diminish
or resolve.
Classes & Workshops: Awareness Through Movement®
Awareness Through Movement is a series of verbally guided, gentle,
slow and organized movements typically done on the floor on a mat in a group
setting. These lessons guide students’ awareness toward their own movement patterns.
Students begin to generate more choices in thought, emotion and action, and
problems and discomfort are resolved. Call for a current schedule of classes.
